I require the internal flare rate and distance between the 1 inch and 1.4 inch port. Yes, they are only going to get more and more expensive.

I wouldn't use MDF.If you do you may need some kind of inserts as you don't want to compress MDF with the Bolts & Nuts to much as it will eventually crumble. I would explore either a Baltic Birch Ply or any void free plywood or a hardwood like Oak,Ash,or White Maple.... Or if you need a cheaper material Poplar wood.

Thanks for those valuable tips, I will make it out of hardwood then. I currently have a pair of 802-8gs that I am using with 811-B horns. I will be getting a pair of 805 horns and I would like to use the 802-8gs on the 805s with an adapter. I will continue to look for 288s, they are hard to come by here in India.
